What the world does not come from first hand drums, and when?

my son's school project Construction instuument and make a report. We built a pair of bongos PVC plastic canvas type material, tape and superglue. The report should contain information on the origin of the hand drums. I need to know where and when the first hand drums have been created. thank you!
