Do you want to learn to play the drums? Read on for a review of “Begin Drumming,” which is an excellent digital learning system for beginning drummers.
Learning how to play the drums is not a skill you can pick up just by reading about it. The art of drumming uses sight, sound and touch. So I was happy to see that “Begin Drumming” is a complete course that includes more than four hours of video lessons and nearly 200 audio files. Photos, text instruction and sheet music are also included in this complete package. Now if you bought this sort of drumming course at a store, that would be it. But when you buy it online, you can also get personal support from the author, Jim McCarthy.
Jim is not just trying to make a fast buck on drum lesson downloads. He has been teaching for more than 20 years and is a professional drummer himself. You can see that for yourself when you watch the videos. In fact, that’s part of the magic behind this course. His video teaching is done in a way that makes it extremely easy to follow.
Now, if you have a few lessons already under your belt, then it might seem like the first lessons of “Begin Drumming” are a little too basic. If you’re more advanced, then you can skip the first few lessons. But if you’re just starting out, you don’t have to worry about keeping up.
In “Begin Drumming,” Jim puts a lot of emphasis on technique, so there aren’t a lot of shortcuts. So if you want to learn to play drums in an hour, you probably ought to pass. But if you seriously want to learn how to play drums, this is what you’ve been looking for. It’s how you can learn to sound like you spend thousands on lessons, without spending thousands.
